Whether it's advertising or branding that makes us laugh, think, or something we just find clever... you will find it here. Welcome to Fresh Media's Orange Slice.
Flower Parade
Zundert is a small town north east of Belgium with a population of about 20,000. Each year, they hold 'Corso Zundert' - their annual parade of flowers. That's correct. Every float is made from natural flowers, specifically dahlias with there being up to 500,000 flowers per float. Zundert's flower parade came into being in 1936 as a celebration of Queen Wilhelimina’s birthday. Today, these architectural structures have a maximum size height of 19 metres (length), 4.5 metres (width) and 9 metres (height). Wow.
Tire Art
Living on PEI, you often see folks reusing an old tire as a planter. Based on some of these unique samples from Haute Nature, there are a lot of creative ways we can reuse tires!
Mr. Mad Men
Take Mad Men and combine it with the original Mr. Men beloved characters and you have one of the best brand mash-ups we've seen in sometime! These combined characters were recently a part of the first book in a brand new series of adventures – 'Mr. Sterling Gets Angry'. Other book titles in the planned series include 'Mr. Draper Loses His Trousers' or 'Little Miss Peggy Gets Another Bump In Her Tummy'. Consider these added to our Christmas lists!
VW Plant
Like most consumers, our first experience with new cars often happens on a local car lot. We often don't give much thought to where the cars were actually put together. And any mental imagery we get of car plants are often of the assembly line type-- big robot arms with sparks and what nots. Then we found these images of the Volkswagen plant in Germany and our mental images were gone forever. What an amazing plant! Clean. Modern. And the largest and coolest tower of cars we've ever seen.
Pass the FRESHNESS Forward (maybe not!)
When we first heard about the product called Cottenelle Fresh® Flushable Moist Wipes, we chuckled at their tagline of "passing freshness forward". It's a clever hook that we were obviously attracted to. Then we saw their ad. Really? Is that what they expect friends to do? Pass moist wipes to one another? It's such an odd concept to think that women would want to "share the freshness" with their friends. But then we saw Cottenelle's other full length ad which starts off so bad... then becomes so over-the-top good... we weren't sure what to think. Watch the first 30-second spot, then watch the longer online video for "When Getting Fresh Goes Wrong." You'll see what we mean. We also believe the line of "I'll show you confidently clean" is going to stick with us for awhile.
