FAITH IN YOUR FUTURE
Sometimes you just need to add a little faith to your message. :)
We were happy to work with Maritime Christian College on a new recruitment promotion for their campus. Though many weeks of research, learning about their organization, plus speaking with their team and students, we created the campaign ‘Faith In Your Future’. The campaign was unveiled at their annual Exalt event in October which brings together youth from across the region, along with students and teachers, to celebrate their faith in a weekend dedicated to connecting and growing.
The team at MCC along with current students and graduates were on hand to reveal the new promotion for the year ahead. We love to see clients taking an idea and running with it just as these folks have!
JOINING THE UNITED WAY OF PEI
We are proud to announce that Melody has joined the Board of Directors of the United Way of Prince Edward Island. This long-standing organization has given back to our local community since 1962, helping families, seniors, students and charities who depend on the help of others to execute their mission.
As well, Fresh Media recently donated their creative services to the United Way of PEI for their annual fundraising campaign materials to help get the campaign off the ground. Please consider contributing a donation of any amount to continue to help the United Way of PEI give back to our Island communities.

AND THE WINNER IS…
After another successful PEI Porktoberfest, it’s clear that the Ultimate Bacon Sandwiches were a hit! During October, over 11,000 sandwiches were purchased, approximately a 20% increase from last year’s campaign. This equalled over 4,600 lbs of pork consumed, and an economic impact of $144,525 in sales of just the sandwiches alone, up over $21,000 from 2014.
And just how do you earn the title of Best PEI Porktoberfest Chef? You start with a bacon weave made of local PEI Pork.
We were proud to crown Chef was Craig O’Neill from Brothers 2 in Summerside as the 4th winner of our annual PEI Porktoberfest campaign. The public sunk their teeth into this delicious creation and voted the ‘B2 Piggyback’ as their top choice.
The winning bacon sandwich featured a smoked maplewood bacon weave, sautéed spinach, fresh mango salsa, caramelized onions, tomato, old cheddar, swiss cheese, and honey mustard mayo all on grilled homemade bread. It will remain on the menu at Brothers 2 for the year, so you will have your chance to sample it for yourself!

MONSTER HOUSE
The corner of Pownal and Richmond Streets came to life the last week of October with our annual Monster House. Each window of our building was aglow with monstrous party-goers, ghouls, goblins and critters! We love Halloween and knowing that this silliness puts a smile on the faces of the neighbourhood families is the cherry on top!
The monsters have vacated the building for another year, but keep your eyes peeled for their return October 2016.
PEI PORKTOBERFEST RETURNS
The 4th annual PEI Porktoberfest returns October 1st-to-31st, and this year bacon dreams do come true with Ultimate Bacon Sandwiches.
Using bacon as the signature ingredient, 25 Island restaurants have created one-of-a-kind Ultimate Bacon Sandwiches in hopes of winning the 'Best PEI Porktoberfest Chef' title. To win, Islanders are encouraged the eat the gourmet sandwiches, then vote online for their favourite chef creation. Every vote is also an opportunity for people to win prizes such as $20 gift cards and Porktoberfest shirts. The campaign also has two new signature contests where lucky winners could take home Bacon For A Year, or win a Bacon-Packed Getaway to Charlottetown.
The month-long celebration of PEI pork was created by Fresh Media, and is presented in partnership with Prince Edward Island Hog Producers, the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, and PEI Flavours. This is the first Porktoberfest campaign where bacon is the hero pork cut, with previous campaigns focusing on PEI sausages or pulled pork.
When this year’s porklicious campaign launches October 1st, Islanders will instantly see the culinary creativity of our local chefs on full display with their sandwiches, as well as the overall versatility of pork bellies and bacon.
Types of bacon featured in some of the sandwiches include apple smoked, dry-cured, double smoked, pea meal, honey & smoked paprika glazed, jalapeño, maple-braised chipotle, whiskey chili, plus many more flavour combinations. Several chefs found unique ways to further include bacon as part of their sandwich by highlighting it within other toppings, or as part of their buns or bread. Some chefs have even added more pork to their sandwiches with pulled pork, ground pork, pork sausage or a bacon-wrapped pork dog.

UPEI - SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING PANEL
We’re proud to have had Melody represent Fresh Media at the University of Prince Edward Island Social Media Marketing Panel last evening, alongside of Al Douglas of PEI Brew Co. and Nancy Beth Guptill of Sweet Spot Marketing.
Melody spoke about PEI Burger Love and how to ‘Create A Community’ online and offline, as well as our Top 5 things learned managing such a large campaign through Social Media.
It was great to have such a responsive crowd of creative young minds. The Q & A was a treat with a good mix of perspectives and suggestions from the panel on multiple topics centred around communications online.

WHAT THE FRESH BIRTHDAY GIFTS
On July 12th, we celebrated our champagne birthday as it has been 12 years since Melody officially launched Fresh Media.
As the Fresh crew were chatting about birthdays, we started talking about some of the ‘WTF’ gifts we have personally received over the years. Like when Melody received a Millennium Dress from her parents, which had fireworks and the year ‘2000’ graphics all over it. Mind you, her parents gave her the dress 6 months after the millennium.
We’re sure you have WTF gift memories too, so in honour of our champagne birthday, we want to give you a new WTF Gift — a WHAT THE FRESH GIFT — just by sharing your bad birthday gift story with us.
Post your story on Facebook or drop us an email and you might win! Our What The Fresh BDay gifts will be drawn for until July 17th.
BRANDING THE FOX
Fresh Media loves working on brands from the foundation up. Especially when it’s a brand that sells PEI Potato Chips and Gourmet Popcorn!
For Lucky Fox, we created the actual brandname, brand positioning, tagline, and the brand identity. We then designed all of their packaging, responsive website, and also wrote their social media strategy to help them launch their accounts.
And while we loved creating the brand for PEI’s new artisan snack company, there was one thing we loved even more — which was being some of the first people to sample their delicious products! And they are truly amazing with their Island Mix being completely addictive. Make sure you try their handcrafted snacks which are ‘cleverly crafted on PEI’ as soon as you can.FUNNY BONE SUPPORT
We're tickled to be a Performance Sponsor for this year's Island Summer Review 3 playing at the Harmony House Theatre! Get your tickets and settle in for a night of belly laughs and poking fun at our Island ways.A BURGER FOR EVERY ISLANDER
This year marked the 5th year of PEI Burger Love, and when all the grills were turned off this April, a record breaking 145,527 burgers were enjoyed across the Island. That’s approximately a burger for every Islander, and an increase of 58% over last year’s sales.
Sales of the burgers alone were over $1.9 million or over $64,000 a day. When we estimate that the average transaction also included a combination of side, beverage, and tips, they estimate that the minimum economic impact was over $2.6 million.
The sales of the burgers also equalled over 65,000 of local Island Beef. Prior to the start of the campaign, the PEI Cattle Producers developed accreditation and audit agreements with markets to further ensure all the beef consumed was local.
For the Most Loved Burger, the winner was decided by the restaurant which had the best average rating from online voting. This year, The Home Place Inn & Restaurant in Kensington won with their burger creation called ‘The Cabbage Patch’.
This winning burger featured 6oz. of charbroiled Island Beef, homemade barbonaise sauce, romaine lettuce, homemade cream cheese pesto, grilled pear slices, beer braised red cabbage with bacon and red onions, plus kettle chips on a grilled onion bun, garnished with dill & cherry tomato. As part of the title, the Most Loved burger will remain on The Home Place’s menu.
Another significant component of the campaign was the attempt to put PEI Burger Love and Island Beef in the world record books for the 'Most Freshly Cooked Burgers Sold In 24-Hours'. Fresh Media had worked with Guinness World Records for several months on all the details, rules and accreditations for this world record that had never been attempted before. Guinness World Records then provided a minimum sales number of 5,000 burgers sold during the 24-hours to set this new record. This number was determined by Guinness based on PEI Burger Love’s previous sales numbers per day, the number of participating restaurants for this year, as well our demographics and population.
Islanders certainly took up the challenge to put PEI in the record books as an incredible 9,037 burgers were sold during the 24-hour attempt. Evidence must now finalized and sent to Guinness for them to officially recognize the new record.
We can not thank Islanders enough for investing their hard earned dollars in PEI Burger Love. Together, we can proudly proclaim Prince Edward Island as ‘Burger Island’ as we continue to set the standard across Canada for how a community can come together to support local.'MAKE TODAY A MEMORY' DO GOOD CAMPAIGN LAUNCHES
As you may recall to celebrate 10 years in business, we wanted to give back to the people in our Island community whom we've worked beside over these last 10 years.
We felt the best way to do this was to use our skills to help create a new goodwill idea for a local not-for-profit organization. So we decided to donate $10,000 worth of our creative services to go towards branding, strategy, outreach, PR, content development, graphic design, website development, social media management, production costs, and the overall promotion of a new Do Good idea through various mediums.
After reviewing over 25 submissions from across the Island, the Alzheimer Society of PEI was selected by Fresh Media as the Do Good recipient.
It was extremely difficult to choose from so many worthy PEI community groups. After reviewing all of the entries as a team, we narrowed down the candidates to the final two. During our internal discussions, we realized that the majority of our team had a loved one who had either Alzheimer's or another form of dementia. When we realized this connection, we felt that our one-of-a-kind donation would be perfect for such a worthy organization. We then decided that we would do our part in raising awareness of Alzheimer's on PEI, and bring the Island community together by creating our Do Good campaign.
'Make Today A Memory' is the result of us working with the Alzheimer Society of PEI and learning all we can about this incurable disease over the last number of months.
Alzheimer's is a silent thief that steals away people's memories little-by-little until the memories are no longer something that can easily be called upon. The goal of the 'Make Today A Memory' campaign is to get Islanders thinking about the value of their memories, and the huge role they play in the relationships people have with their loved ones.
The Alzheimer Society of PEI does so much to provide support services for this disease across the province, and we are incredible proud to be able to help raise awareness of their important work.
We hope that you will join us in making each day count. And to do so not just during the month of January, but to keep the Make Today A Memory mission as a reminder in the years to come.
